Rest From
      War!

There comes a time when we have to rest from war.  When events calm down, when problems are resolved, when peace comes into the turmoil.  The pain stops.  Believe you’re coming to a time in your life where you’re going to have rest from war.  That constant issue will be put to rest.  That need won’t rise up again.  That regret can’t haunt you anymore.  You’ll have rest from conflict, the hardships, the disappointments.  Rest from war.  God has that for you.  He knows the times when you need it.  See how you can enter into it.

    I Must Do
 SOMETHING!

   Sometimes something in your life takes time.  You don’t see happening what you want in the timing you thought.  So you may feel edgy inside to get it going.  You don’t want to miss out.  Perhaps you’re in a painful situation.  So you have a war going on inside you.  Should I do this now?  Should I take that action?  Should I go there?  Should I say something?  What if I do?  What if I don’t?

   How can you rest from war inside you in those times?  Just know that there is a right time.  God has already set the time.  What should happen will happen when it should.  So you’re not trying to FIND the time when something should happen for you.  It will happen if you rest from war inside you and you allow the Spirit of God to guide you.  It will happen when it should.

   I think of a dear couple who was facing the kind of feeling that makes you wonder if you should be doing something because bad events are waiting for you.  Isn’t that the worst feeling?  Bad events are waiting for me.  I must do something to keep those from happening.

   This couple was feeling that because the job of the husband had become insecure.  At that time, the economy wasn’t going well for the type of company for which he worked.  So the future of his position was shaky.  They thought about trying another company or perhaps start consulting.

   Of course, there are times God enables us to see trouble ahead and gives us the action we must take to avoid it or to compensate for it.  But there are other times when we should delay our action and wait on Him.  Knowing what is the right way and timing will give us rest from war.  Not knowing it creates that war inside us.

   So what can we do?  Pray and seek God and watch for His guidance.  Get rest from the war inside you.

   The couple got in contact with us to pray with them about God directing them.  After a time of praying and waiting on the Lord, they felt they shouldn’t do anything at that time.  They made the choice not to resign and hold on for the ride during a difficult period.

   Sometimes you’re holding on for the ride.  Conditions appear bumpy, things are uncertain around you, you’re not sure.  But right now you’re going to hang on and see where it goes.  You have a knowing inside you GOD knows where it’s going to go and He has your best interest at heart.  He is there to protect you.

   Because the husband chose not to resign and stayed in his position, everything improved.  The current job remained good and their needs were met.  Then they discovered if he had gone to a company to which he was considering moving, he may have been without work by that time.  Because they knew there was a right time for him, they stayed and were rewarded.

   The greatest part of that praise report is that they had rest from war before the insecurity and difficulty was over.  They didn’t have to exist in a frenzied feeling inside them the whole time they were waiting.

   You don’t have to feel anxious or have war inside you about the timing of what you should or shouldn’t do.  You can have rest from war because you know there is a right time, and God will show it to you.

   Psalm 139 confirms to us that we serve a God who will guide us down to every detail of our life.  David wrote that psalm and we know he had a deep relationship with God.  He came to the understanding that the Lord could show him what must be done at all times so he could take the right path.  I really encourage you to incorporate this into your life and believe that God is showing you the right time for everything.

   David wrote in that psalm, You [God] chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and rest.  (Ref. Psalm 139:3-5 TLB.)  God charts your path ahead of you and therefore He can show you where in that journey you must stop and rest.  That means you can’t always be going.  You can’t be in turmoil because of what events are happening.

   On your road, there are times to stop and rest.  That will give you the strength to go on and be successful.  You won’t feel as if you’re in a war all the time because if you are, that will just wear you down.  You won’t make it to the destination God has for you.

   Once you are convinced there is a right time, you will enter into rest from war.  You will have peace and confidence about what is happening and what you are doing.  You will know there is a right time for what you desire to come to pass.

Here is a powerful prayer to say out loud:
Thank You, God, that You have my answer coming in its perfect timing.  I trust You for that and I lay aside all concern and anxiety.  I am resting from the war which tries to rage inside me.  I’m at peace and rest in You.  In the name of Jesus.  Amen.
