Be Still
   and See
   Victory!

Have you noticed that after you pray and ask God for something, you're not always shown what’s going on behind the scenes?  God is moving and orchestrating events and conditions where you can’t see.  It can cause you to come to the place you want to make something happen so you can know the results now!  Yet, what does the Word of God say to us that we must do in those times?  "Be still.”  Even if it's difficult, if you are still before God in your spirit, trusting and hearing Him, that's when you will be able to see victory come.  Hear how you can do that!
I.    Trust While Waiting.

    There was a father who was really having a difficult time resting inside, and it was understandable.  While he was away ministering at a revival, he received news that caused him to get on a plane to rush home.  His daughter had been rushed to the emergency room.  They didn’t know if it was an acute appendicitis or what.  

    So at 2:30 in the morning, he boarded the plane to head back to his home in Detroit.  As he sat on the plane he felt so overwhelmed with fear, wondering what was happening and how it would end.  What the results would be.  He needed to find a place he could rest.  He was in the coach section right behind the first-class area.  The curtain between the two sections was open a bit so he could see no one was in that front area.  

    He was so disturbed that he asked one of the crewmembers if he could go up there to be alone and rest.  But she said no, it was against the rules and they didn’t have anyone in that area that could attend him and be responsible for the area.  All the crew was working in the coach area.

    He understood but he was still upset inside.  He was in that time when it’s difficult to trust while you’re waiting.  You want to see some results…now.  That would give you peace.  But the rest has to come before you see the results.  That’s how we trust God in a true way.  We believe that He is working.  That’s also how we see victory.  Yet, those times are so tough. 
 
    But let me show you the grace that God has on us in times when it’s so difficult to wait for the results.  He isn’t standing in heaven upset with us because we’re having problems trusting while we’re waiting.  Instead, He’s going to help us trust.  He’s always FOR us, helping us to grow in our faith and believe Him.  He isn’t waiting around to punish us because we don’t measure up in our faith.  On the contrary, in a continual way He is trying to grow us and help us and comfort us. 
 
    So hear what happened while the man was sitting there.  Right after the crewmember left, another one came past the curtains and she invited him to come up front and sit there.  The opposite of what the other one had said.  So he did.  Then she brought him a sandwich and chips and something to drink.  

    As he ate, she began talking.  It was all about God and the Word and His grace.  She described a love and care and protection that God gives us.  So his soul was just drinking it in.  He needed it.  It was causing his Spirit to become still.  When you’re still, you can see victory.  You see it first in your spirit.  But if you’re not still, then you can’t see the victory in your spirit.  That is a critical principle of how God works.  Be still and see the victory inside you first and then you can see the victory manifest.

    So as the crewmember continued talking with him when they passed over the city where he lived, she stood up and put her hand on his shoulder.  Now you need to know he had not mentioned anything about his daughter or why he was rushing home.  The woman knew nothing.  But she spoke to him and said, “Man of God, your daughter will be all right.”  Then she turned around and went through the curtains and into the coach section.  He never saw her again.  

    Later, when he told the first crewmember about it, she thought he was crazy.  There wasn’t any crewmember that she knew of and to her it couldn’t have happened.  But it didn’t matter.  He was now trusting while he was waiting.  God had assured his heart that He was working.  God does that.  If we will be still long enough for Him to minister to us, somehow He’ll get a message to us that He is in fact working.  He’s moving and orchestrating.  So trust while you wait for the results.

    When that man got off the plane, his wife was there.  She was grinning ear to ear.  They had just received a phone call that the girl’s fever had broken and she was well.  

    Was that crewmember an angel?  Who knows.  We know that God at times sends them to minister to us.  Whatever way He uses, somehow He will get the word to us that we can be still and trust Him until we see victory. 

    Whatever it is for which you’re waiting, whatever kind of results you want from God, trust while you’re waiting.  When you are still on the inside, you can see victory.  That’s because when you’re still, God can work in you, He can build your faith, it can help you believe until you see what you desire.  You can rest before you see the results.  (Ref. Psalm 27:14; Isaiah 40:31.)

Here is a powerful prayer to say out loud:

Father, I trust You so much!  I trust You enough to be able to rest even though I don’t see the results for which I’m praying.  I know good results are possible by Your hand so I believe that’s what I will receive.  In the name of Jesus.  Amen.
